On 28 January, a regular meeting of the working group on internet connectivity and internet infrastructure of the Business Environment and International Rankings Commission chaired by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport was held. The meeting was attended by the head of the Commission’s Secretariat, the head and members of the working group, as well as representatives of the private sector.

The meeting discussed the work done under the 2024 Roadmap for implementing improvements and communication in the relevant area related to the “Utilities (Internet)” indicator of the World Bank Group’s Business Ready Report and identified upcoming tasks for 2025.

The head of the working group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Shahin Babayev made a welcoming speech and noted that the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and other relevant structures have taken appropriate measures to enhance a favorable business environment and further improve the country’s position in international rankings.

Head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, Sector Head at the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Issues of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vusal Shikhaliyev noted that the work of the working group played an important role in improving the indicators related to the Internet infrastructure of the Business Ready Report. He said benchmarks were used to diagnose the internet infrastructure and identify areas for improvement by 2025.

28 января состоялось очередное заседание рабочей группы по подключению к интернету и интернет-инфраструктуре Комиссии по бизнес-среде и международным рейтингам, возглавляемой Министерством цифрового развития и транспорта. В заседании приняли участие руководитель секретариата Комиссии, руководитель и члены рабочей группы, а также представители частного сектора.

На заседании обсуждалась работа, проделанная в рамках Дорожной карты на 2024 год по внедрению улучшений и коммуникации в соответствующей области, связанной с индикатором «Коммунальные услуги (интернет)» отчета Business Ready группы Всемирного банка, а также были определены предстоящие задачи на 2025 год.

Руководитель рабочей группы, заместитель министра цифрового развития и транспорта Шахин Бабаев выступил с приветственной речью и отметил, что Министерством цифрового развития и транспорта и другими соответствующими структурами приняты соответствующие меры с целью повышения благоприятной деловой среды и дальнейшего улучшения позиций страны в международных рейтингах. 

Руководитель секретариата Комиссии по бизнес-среде и международным рейтингам,  заведующий отделом по вопросам экономической политики и промышленности Администрации Президента Азербайджанской Республики Вусал Шихалиев отметил, что деятельность рабочей группы сыграла важную роль в улучшении показателей, связанных с интернет-инфраструктурой отчета Business Ready. Он сказал, что на основе бенчмарков была проведена диагностика инфраструктуры интернета и определены области для улучшения к 2025 году.

İclasda Dünya Bankı Qrupunun “Business Ready” hesabatının “Kommunal xidmətlər (internet)” indikatoru ilə bağlı müvafiq sahədə təkmilləşmələrin və kommunikasiyanın həyata keçirilməsinə dair 2024-cü il Yol Xəritəsi üzrə görülmüş işlərin müzakirəsi aparılıb və 2025-ci il üçün qarşıda duran vəzifələr müəyyən edilib.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin, who started his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan. They discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation, expansion of cooperation in the field of investment, agro-industrial complex, transport and logistics, energy, cultural and humanitarian sphere, tourism and others.

The Head of the Government stressed that the basis of dynamic economic cooperation are intensive and trusting contacts between the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of China Xi Jinping.

During the talks, the parties noted the existing high level of trade and economic partnership between the two countries. At the end of 2024, bilateral trade turnover increased by 9% and reached $43.8 billion. In order to achieve the objectives set by the Heads of State to double the volume of mutual trade, the governments are working together to unlock the existing potential with a view to diversifying trade turnover.

Премьер-министр Казахстана Олжас Бектенов провел встречу с Чрезвычайным и Полномочным Послом Китайской Народной Республики в Казахстане Хань Чуньлинем, приступившим к дипломатической миссии в РК. Обсуждены вопросы торгово-экономического сотрудничества, расширения взаимодействия в области инвестиций, АПК, транспорта и логистики, энергетики, культурно-гуманитарной сферы, туризма и др.

Руководитель Правительства подчеркнул, что базой динамичного экономического сотрудничества выступают интенсивные и доверительные контакты между Президентом Казахстана Касым-Жомартом Токаевым и Председателем КНР Си Цзиньпином.

В ходе переговоров стороны отметили сложившийся высокий уровень торгово-экономического партнерства между двумя странами. По итогам 2024 года двусторонний товарооборот вырос на 9% и достиг $43,8 млрд. President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan has received delegations from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, "Caspian Energy Media" reports.

The Azerbaijani delegation consisted of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Digital Development, and Transportation Minister Rashad Nabiyev, while the Uzbek delegation included Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Investment, Industry and Trade Minister Laziz Kudratov and Transportation Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov.

During the reception, outcomes of the trilateral meeting, as well as further plans to enhance Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Uzbekistan cooperation were elaborated.

Президент Турции Реджеп Тайип Эрдоган принял делегации Азербайджана и Узбекистана.

В состав делегации Азербайджана вошли министр иностранных дел Джейхун Байрамов, министр экономики Микаил Джаббаров, министр цифрового развития и транспорта Рашад Набиев, в состав делегации Узбекистана - министр иностранных дел Бахтиёр Саидов, министр инвестиций, промышленности и торговли Лазиз Кудратов и министр транспорта Ильхам Махкамов.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is beginning the transit of crude oil from Kazakhstan's Kashagan field through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

According to SOCAR, the first batch of Kashagan oil, loaded onto a tanker at Aktau port on January 25, amounts to approximately 6,000 tons.

The oil, arriving at the Sangachal terminal on January 27, will be transported to Ceyhan port via BTC. The first batch is being carried by the Taraz tanker, operated by Kazakhstan's KazMorTransFlot company. This became possible after the signing of an agreement on January 15, 2025, between SOCAR's subsidiary SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC and KazMunayGaz's (KMG) subsidiary KMG Trading for the transit of 240,000 tons of Kashagan oil annually.

In March 2024, SOCAR and KMG signed an agreement on gradually increasing oil transit through Azerbaijan's territory. The document envisions increasing supply volumes to up to 2.2 million tons annually.

An agreement signed between SOCAR and KMG in November 2022 provides for the transit of 1.5 million tons of Tengiz field oil annually. In February 2024, an agreement was signed on gradually increasing the volume of Kazakh oil transit through Azerbaijan's territory.
