Cooperation opportunities in various areas of the energy sector were discussed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Crescent Petroleum,  "Caspian Energy Media" reports, citing SOCAR.

These discussions were held during a meeting between SOCAR's president Rovshan Najaf and Crescent Petroleum's CEO Majid Jafar.

During the meeting, information about Crescent Petroleum's activities was provided. The parties exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit. They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with a focus on the development of trade and economic ties, expansion of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, transportation of oil and oil products, digital technologies, agriculture, tourism and others.

During the talks, attention was paid to building up transit and transport interaction by unlocking the potential of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. It is expected that the measures taken will make it possible to increase the throughput capacity of the Middle Corridor to 10 million tonnes per year by 2027. In addition, the importance of continuing work on establishing competitive tariff conditions, reducing delivery times and increasing the volume of cargo transported along the route was emphasised. At the same time, Kazakh companies are also involved in capacity building in Georgia. A new multimodal terminal in the Georgian port of Poti, which is being built by a Kazakh transport and logistics investment group, is scheduled to be launched this year.

The next meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA ) was held.

The meeting, chaired by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Minister of Economy Mikayıl Jabbarov, featured presentations on SMBDA 's activities in 2024, the priority development directions set for 2025, and other agenda items.   

Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, Orkhan Mammadov, provided information on the support measures implemented for SME development during the reporting period. This included efforts to enhance entrepreneurs' knowledge and skills, expand their access to financial resources and sales markets, and protect SME interests. Additionally, he highlighted plans to introduce new incentive tools for entrepreneurs, develop and digitalize service infrastructure, and align initiatives with modern challenges and progressive international practices.

On February 6, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation.

Welcoming Irakli Kobakhidze, President Tokayev congratulated him on his reappointment as Prime Minister and wished him success in his duties aimed at ensuring the prosperity of the Georgian people.

During the meeting, particular attention was given to increasing cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and modernizing the corridor’s transit infrastructure.

The sides also explored prospects for expanding cooperation in trade, energy, investment, tourism, artificial intelligence, and digitalization. 6 февраля президент Казахстана Касым-Жомарт Токаев провел переговоры с Премьер-министром Грузии Ираклием Кобахидзе.

Sahil Babayev has been dismissed from the position of Azerbaijan's minister of labor and social protection of the population, according to a presidential order, "Caspian Energy Media" reports.

By another decree of the head of state, Sahil Babayev has been appointed as minister of finance.

Sahil Rafiq oğlu Babayev Azərbaycanın əmək və əhalinin sosial müdafiəsi naziri vəzifəsindən azad edilib.
