Turkmenistan is expanding its presence in the regional gas market. As a result of negotiations held on July 1-3 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and Iran signed a contract for the supply of Turkmen gas to Iraq. According to the agreements reached, Turkmenistan will annually supply up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Iraq through Iran under the SWAP scheme. This agreement was the result of many years of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran in the gas industry.
