Uniper to participate in 29th Baku Energy Forum

Uniper will be participating in the 5th Baku Energy Forum which will be held at the Baku Congress Center on June 6-29. Head of Uniper's Azerbaijan office Rashad Huseynli told Caspian Energy Media.

Uniper is the sponsor of the "Gas Dialogue" session which will be held on the second day of the forum and involve two speakers.

Uniper is also a global energy merchant and a leading European gas company with a diversified portfolio of long-term contracts, LNG, and market transactions amounting to roughly 200 TWh annually.

It is active in more than 40 countries with 22.5 GW of energy production and 7.4 bcm of underground gas storage capacity.

Uniper buys 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Shah Deniz II gas field of Azerbaijan through the Southern Gas Corridor. It takes important steps to accelerate the energy transition in the European Union, especially in Germany. So, according to the company's latest strategy, it is planned to invest 8 billion Euros in green and renewable energy sources and hydrogen production by 2030, and 80% of the produced energy (i.e. 15-20 GW) should be green as a target. Uniper has established a joint venture with SOCAR in Azerbaijan and is currently completing its first energy efficiency project in Sumgait. There are also plans to implement green energy projects.
