EAEU creating common gas market

The Eurasian Economic Union is preparing international agreements on the creation of common markets for oil, petroleum products and gas. This was announced by Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Iya Malkina at a briefing today in reply to a question from BELTA.

“Currently, the EEC together with the EAEU countries are implementing the first stage of forming common markets for oil and petroleum products, which implies creating an organizational and methodological basis for the formation of these markets, Iya Malkina said. In particular, the Commission together with the countries prepared drafts of an international agreement on the formation of common markets for oil and petroleum products of the EAEU and common rules for access to oil and petroleum products transportation systems. The projects are currently being discussed at the level of experts of the authorized bodies of the Union countries”.

The first stage of building a common gas market is also being implemented. “Today, Russia, as a responsible performer, is working over an international agreement on the formation of a common gas market of the Union, common rules for access to gas transportation systems located on the territory of member States, and the procedure for conducting gas exchange trading”, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission noted.

The members of the EAEU are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan. Syria, Tunisia, Uzbekistan are candidates for entering into the Union.
