Nord Stream 2 AG gets green light from all project-participant countries

Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of Nord stream 2, has got the permission from the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) to operate the pipeline on the Danish continental shelf.

The construction operator submitted the application for a permit as early as November 2019. Officially, the permit does not change anything in the current state of the project, but this is another confirmation of its importance for Europe, Russian media write.

It should be noted that Denmark was the last project participant which allowed the operation of the gas pipeline in its territorial zone. Russia and Germany agreed in 2015 to build the second branch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. It will connect Russian Ust-Luga and German Greifswald. Plans for the construction of Nord Stream 2 are strongly criticized in many EU countries and actively opposed in Poland and Ukraine. Gazprom started construction in 2018 and plans to complete it by the end of 2020.
