Baku hosts advisory council meeting

Baku has hosted the 7th videoconference meeting of the ministers within the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council on February 11.

According to the press service of the head of the state, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the meeting.
It is noteworthy that the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) was completed in October and commercial gas pumping along the pipeline began on December 31.

TAP – the main gas pipeline (MHP) has been filled in with natural gas from the Greek-Turkish border to the receiving terminal in southern Italy.

The connection point between the TAP main gas piepline and the Snam Rete Gas transmission system in Apulia (Italy) was completed and ready for gas transportation in mid-November 2020.

TAP is the final European segment of the SGC main trunk pipeline system, through which gas from the Caspian region will be delivered to the south of Europe on a long-term basis.

The project will be fully operational in 2026.

The pipeline links to the Trans-Anatolian (TANAP) pipeline at the Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi, crosses Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea and comes ashore near San Foca in southern Italy. The first phase of the TANAP gas pipeline began commercial gas supplies to Turkey from the end of June 2018. The transfer of gas to the local gas pipeline system takes place in the area of the city of Eskisehir. TANAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor, created for the supply of Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz 2 field to Turkey and Europe. Its length is 1.85 thousand km, its capacity is 16 billion cubic meters per year with the possibility of doubling. The project cost makes about $7 billion.
