A number of major contracts signed in Uzbekistan


On June 20, Tashkent hosted the Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum organized on the threshold of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Uzbekistan.


From the Uzbek side, participating in the event were representatives of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. From the Azerbaijani side the event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy, and the Export and Investment Promotion AgencyAZPROMO. Besides, the discussions were attended by departments, industry associations and more than 100 representatives of the largest companies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.


Stressed at the forum was the commitment of the governments of the two countries to further expand multifaceted cooperation focused mainly on the establishment of strong direct ties between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.


Highlighting investment, industrial and trade cooperation achievements, the parties noted the significant untapped potential of the economies of the two countries and the existing prerequisites for further expansion of mutually beneficial partnership in such areas as petrochemical, chemical, electrical, textile, food, pharmaceutical, jewelry, automobile  and other industries.


It was noted that a consistent diversification of economic cooperation between the two countries will allow Uzbek and Azerbaijani producers to create new value chains and enter the markets of third countries together.


It was also announced the introduction of specific measures to stimulate the increase in mutual and transit cargo transportation through the territories of the two countries, which will deepen Uzbek-Azerbaijani cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.


In conclusion, the heads of delegations wished the participants fruitful work at the Forum, bearing in mind the development of specific areas for mutually beneficial partnership and reaching firm agreements.


A number of agreements on the implementation of joint projects and trade contracts worth more than $500 million, as well as 10 agreements on practical cooperation between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries were signed at the outcome of the Forum.
