Kazakhstan, Spain to cooperate in tourism - Asset Issekeshev

Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev named new directions of Kazakhstan and Spain cooperation, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the official website of the Government of Kazakhstan.

Performing the speech at the joint business forum, the Minister said that Spain was one of the key economic partners of Kazakhstan in Europe. According to the minister, the cooperation between the two countries is developing at a good level: nowadays, 47 companies with Spanish capital operate in the country.

“Today, we see new areas of cooperation in engineering, tourism, food, renewable energy and public-private partnership,” the Minister said.

Asset Issekeshev said that over the past 10 years Kazakhstan attracted more than 200 million of foreign direct investment. “But we are not ready to stop. While we face current challenges, we have ambitious plans to enter to the 30 most developed countries of the world. Recently, the Presidential Plan of Nation “100 Concrete Steps” was announced that identify the development of economy,” the Minister of Investment and Development said.

The Minister urged Spanish businessmen to participate in the privatization campaign of Kazakhstan that stipulated sale of 200 objects of oil and gas, telecommunications and other spheres.

“We actively engage your companies to participate in this process. We believe that our large-scale projects will be of interest for Spanish business,” the minister said.

The Kazakh-Spanish business forum is held in Astana in the framework of the official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain José Manuel García-Margallo to Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh side is represented by 90 companies specializing in the fields of agriculture, construction, architecture, oil and gas, energy, aviation, military technologies, as well as transport industry. The Spanish delegation includes more than 20 companies interested in investment, technology transfer and cooperation in the framework of public-private partnerships, in such sectors as construction, renewable energy, transport, infrastructure facilities, telecommunications and agriculture.
