SOCAR & JOGMEC sign memorandum

On May 30, SOCAR and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) signed memorandum on cooperation within the framework of the 25th international Caspian Oil & Gas exhibition which is held in Baku. Memorandum was signed by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev and JOGMEC Director Takayuki Motokhashi. The memorandum is aimed at cooperation in joint seismic and geological surveys of promising oil-gas blocks, technical cooperation and development of human resources.

Addressing the event, Vice Minister of Economy, Industry and Trade of Japan Daisaku Hiraki stressed the importance of implementation of such Caspian projects as ACG in Azerbaijan and Kashagan in Kazakhstan, in which Japan is actively involved.

He emphasized that the Caspian region and Azerbaijan, in particular, have a big potential of natural resources and in supply of hydrocarbons, and the higher is the production, the deeper it will promote the economic growth of the region.

D.Hiraki noted that Japan is ready to make its contribution and offer advanced technologies, for instance in the field of pipelines.

“We held 64 geological and geophysical surveys in 28 countries of the world. 3 of them were held in Kazakhstan and we would like to assist in conduction of joint surveys in Azerbaijan as well”, the Vice Minister said.
