SGC session to be held

The fourth meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor will be held in Baku on February 15, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.

This annual meeting will be attended by Deputy President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic, Energy Ministers of the Southern Gas Corridor countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Albania and Bulgaria).

The first session of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor took place on February 12, 2015; the second session was held on February 29, 2016 and the third one took place on February 23, 2017.

The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority projects for the EU and envisages transportation of 10 bcm of Azeri gas from the Caspian region to Europe across Georgia and Turkey.

Shah Deniz II gas is considered as the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor projects. Other sources can join the project at later stage.

Shah Deniz II gas will be exported to Turkey and the European markets via the expansion of the South Caucasus gas pipeline and construction of TANAP and TAP.
