“Implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor has already been a reality. Of course, there are groups wishing to hinder it, which is natural. We faced it as early as 10 years ago”, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated (April 10) on Monday at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of the social-economic development of the first quarter of 2017 and future tasks, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.
“I remember the time of construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline when forces, trying to strike our policy, as well as an Armenian lobby and some other groups opposing this project, tried to hinder the project implementation bringing mainly ecology-based reasons. I also remember the way how certain international financial structures even delayed the crediting. Despite all this, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan was opened in 2006. And even today there are foreign forces trying to hinder operations in certain segments of the Southern Gas Corridor by bringing ecological reasons. But they are all groundless. All ecological regulations are observed. All matters have been agreed. Sooner launch of the Southern Gas Corridor is of importance both to us and all parties which are involved in this project and will get benefits from it in future. I am sure that 2017 will be critical in this regard, and in the next year we shall mark the opening of the TANAP project.
