“The French companies have invested more than $2 billion in the Azerbaijani economy, and are involved in many important projects in Azerbaijan”, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said on March 14 in Paris at the joint press conference with President of France Francois Hollande, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“We are implementing different projects, amongst which I would like to highlight the Southern Gas Corridor - a strategic gas pipeline being built on the initiative of Azerbaijan that will contribute to the energy security of Europe”, the President of Azerbaijan said.
According to Ilham Aliyev, the Southern Gas Corridor costs in total $40 bn., and Azerbaijan is actively involved in the implementation of this project both as an investor country, a doer and an initiator”.
According to him, the French companies support Azerbaijan in the development of the space industry of Azerbaijan, projects are being implemented in the field of urban transport, transportation, infrastructure, water, drinking water, environmental projects, etc. “At the meetings with the French companies I again convinced them of the fact that Azerbaijan has created the excellent climate for foreign investments. At the same time, the economic potential of Azerbaijan is growing. Therefore, even more French companies can work in Azerbaijan as contractors”, President Ilham Aliyev said.
