Kazakhstan and Russia sign protocol on delimitation of Caspian Seabed

Yesterday RK President Nursultan Nazarbayev and RF President Vladimir Putin signed an additional protocol to the Protocol to the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Delimitation of the Seabed of the Northern Part of the Caspian Sea for the Purposes of Exercising Their Sovereign Rights to the Exploitation of its Subsoil of July 6, 1998. An additional protocol was signed yesterday within the framework of the 14th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum in Chelyabinsk, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net ) reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of RK.

This protocol envisages increase of the contract area of the Kurmangazy project and provision a 6-year exploration term to an operator with the possibility of extension for another 4 years.

Authorized organizations of the Kurmangazy project are KazMunayTeniz (50%) full subsidiary of KazMunayGaz NC) and Rosneft NC (50%). The field is located in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea.
