Economic value added of Kazatomprom grows

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev received (March 15) Chairman of the Board of NAC Kazatomprom JSC Askar Zhumagaliyev, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting Askar Zhumagaliyev briefed the head of state about the implementation of previous instructions and about the implementation of the Transformation Program of the company.

The president of Kazakhstan emphasized that the country is the world’s largest uranium producer, committed to putting a complete production cycle in place.

“The company is the important asset of the country. Kazatomprom has interests in various joint ventures, where the partners do not fulfill their obligations. In this regard, it is necessary either to ensure the implementation of their obligations, or to consider the return of assets in the interests of our country”, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Chairman of the Board of NAC Kazatomprom JSC informed about the transfer of social assets to the balance of local executive bodies, the putting 11 non-core businesses in a competitive environment and the relocation of offices of uranium mining companies to the regions of production throughout the last year.

Askar Zhumagaliyev also reported that as a result of the complex measures taken within the framework of the transformation, Kazatomprom reduced production costs by 16 billion tenge, and economic added value of the company rose by nearly 17 billion tenge.

Also, the head of the national company briefed the head of state about the measures taken for diversification of production, in particular for preparations for construction of a plant for production of fuel for nuclear power plants.
