Producer Price Index for Industrial Products in Georgia

In August 2014 the Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products in Georgia decreased 0.3 percent over July 2014. The index increased 3.8 percent compared to August 2013 and 64.8 percent over 2005 average, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press-service of National Statistics Office of Georgia.

 

The most important influence on the monthly PPI was caused by the price change for the following section:

- Manufacturing prices decreased 0.3 percent with the contribution of -0.26 percentage points to the overall index change. This was mainly due to the substantial price decline for manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (-2.7 percent). Besides, the prices increased 0.4 percent for manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products.

 

The change of the annual PPI rate was mainly attributable to the price level changes for the following sections:

- Manufacturing: the prices increased 5.2 percent. The section contributed 4.27 percentage points to the overall index percent change. In the reporting period the prices increased for manufacture of food products, beverage and tobacco products (10.4 percent) and manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (2.8 percent). In the section the prices declined for manufacture of paper and publishing (-10.7 percent);

- Supply of electricity, gas and water: the prices decreased 1.7 percent with an impact of -0.25 percentage points on the annual index change rate.
