Number of MNP service users in Azerbaijan exceeds 12,000

The number of users of mobile number portability (MNP) service in Azerbaijan is growing rapidly, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the official website of the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to data provided from Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT), the service was launched on February 1, 2014, and today the number of MNP service users exceeds 12,000. Note that the purpose of mobile devices registration is to provide mobile device users with comfortable usage conditions, to prevent the import of low-quality mobile devices of unknown origin (also known to the public as  “pirate”) not meeting the technical standards and emitting electromagnetic radiation harmful to human body, to raise the level of awareness and competitiveness of manufacturers. At the same time, the registration system makes it impossible the usage of lost mobile devices in the network.
