It is a good indicator of the way our relations are developing as well as an indicator of efficient role that Russia plays in settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We highly appreciate the efforts of the Russian side, President personally”, Ilham Aliyev stated and expressed gratitude to Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation and President of Russia for the initiative of arranging a Petersburg meeting which President of Azerbaijan found very effective and positive.

You current visit to Baku and your previous visit to Yerevan is another indicator that Russia is sincerely interested as a friend and a neighbor of the two countries in settlement of the conflict. We are also interested and wish sooner settlement of the conflict so that peace and safety are established in our region”, Ilham Aliyev underscored.
“Your visit is a good opportunity to discuss an agenda for bilateral relations. We discussed these issues with President of Russia last month. Our major task is to strengthen relations in all areas – in policy, economy, in the field of transport, energy and humanitarian cooperation. We confidently move forward as friends and partners”, President Ilham Aliyev said and expressed confidence that Sergei Lavrov’s visit would be successful and promote further rapprochement of the two states.

We will try to reach a result”.
“First of all I would like to convey warm greetings of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Just as you, he speaks well of the Saint Petersburg meeting when you managed to discuss both bilateral relations and hold a three-sided meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. Our bilateral agenda is very ambitious. You have just mentioned about it. A session of intergovernmental trade-economic commission, Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional forum and the fifth Baku International Humanitarian Forum are planned to be held till the end of the year. We are interested in development of cooperation in all areas. And certainly, we highly appreciate your stance on the initiative of the Russian side in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The process is running indeed. President Putin is also satisfied with the results of the meeting held in Saint Petersburg.
As you said, by his order I visit capitals of the two countries. I believe today’s meeting will help to clearly determine our further steps in an absolutely concrete plan”, S.Lavrov noted.
