The 6th Russian International Energy Forum has come to a close in St. Petersburg

On April 25-27, 2018 St. Petersburg hosted the 6th Russian International Energy Forum, one of the key business events in the energy sector. This year, RIEF was attended by more than 250 exhibitors, 2 500 delegates and 8 500 visitors from 21 regions of Russia and 17 countries around the world.

The Forum is a global platform for the dialogue between government authorities and business, sectoral corporations, science and industry, investors and developers. RIEF also run the 25-th International Specialized Exhibition "Power and Electrical Engineering 2018". The convention program consisted of over 30 events -- plenary meetings, conferences, round table discussions focusing on the most critical issues of the day including heat power engineering, modernisation of equipment, energy efficiency, import substitution and training of personnel.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Andrey Cherezov said that in accordance with the energy strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to the year 2030, the priority of technological development of the Russian energy sector is the provision of the fuel and energy complex with efficient Russian technologies and equipment, R&D and innovative solutions in the scope required for the support of the national energy security. At the same time, the impact of sanctions must not impair the potential of the Russian producers of power equipment, but rather should be conducive to developing their proprietary products.

The general condition and development trends of the industry were discussed by the participants of the plenary session "Reliable Energy as the Basis of Vital Activities of the State". Talks were given by the Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Cherezov, CEO of Gazprom Energoholding Denis Fyodorov, Chairman of St. Petersburg  Committee on Energy and Engineering Support Andrey Bondarchuk, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Association "Council of Power Producers" Alexandra Panina, President of REP Holding Tagir Nigmatulin, CEO of Power Machines PJSC Yury Petrenya, member of the Board of Directors at Rosseti PJSC and Deputy CEO of Administration of Rosseti PJSC Olga Sergeeva, CEO of Lenenergo Andrey Ryumin.

The business program run the round table discussion "Import substitution and localization in the energy sector”, where experts examined the characteristics of these processes in the industry. Particularly, since 2008, REP Holding has been implementing a program for the localization of gas turbines. "Localization is self-sufficient. We have implemented many technologies, solicited the potential of about 20 contractors, and of around 60 Russian experts," -- said the Vice-President on Production Optimization and Development of REP Holding Alexey Gorin.

In the year 2017, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the strategy for the development of information-oriented society in Russia and the program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation" was adopted. With a view to support this course, digital energy was set aside as a separate block of the Russian International Energy Forum. At the Conference "Digital Transformation of the Russian Energy Industry: Results of Today and Tomorrow" Deputy Director of Operations Control and Management in the Electrical Energy Department of the Russian Ministry of Energy Elena Medvedeva said that the principal aim of digital transformation is implementation of risk-oriented management model based on digital technologies.

The experts discussed HR issues of the digital energy at the Conference "Role of the Personnel and Social Policies of the Sectoral companies in the Development of the Russian Energy". Director of the Department of the State Services and Mobilization of the Russian Ministry of Energy Vladimir Smirnov emphasized the importance of the role played by HR specialists at the digitization stage of the Energy and the preparation of employers for the emergence of generation Z, and the necessity of early career guidance and the retention of personnel cultivated in the industry.

The Russian Export Centre (REC) held a detailed advisory workshop on supporting Russian business in foreign markets. The experts presented comprehensive solutions and highlighted the methods of obtaining state support by exporting companies. Director of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Export Centre Yuriy Dokukin spoke of the main opportunities for players at the Russian market for going global: marketing tools, interaction with the state authorities, insurance of export credits and investments, the financial support from the state.

At the anniversary exhibition "Power and Electrical Engineering”, 200 companies from 21 countries of the region, as well as from Finland, the United States, Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, China, Poland, Hungary, India, Belarus and Kazakhstan showcased their equipment, solutions and achievements in the energy sector. The exhibition has been running as part of RIEF since the year 2013, and is certified and marked by the sign of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

This year, the exposition presented a wide variety of foreign and native innovations including electricity meters for smart homes, modern isolation technologies, fire-protection devices. REP Holding, Gazprom Teploenergo, Elektronmash, R&D and production centre of Metallurg.

At the exhibition, Serpukhov Condenser Factory KVAR presented a condenser unit and power capacitors, ESKON JSC demonstrated an automated dispatching system for electricity management. ABSOLIT LLC showcased its innovative equipment and processing lines for dry treatment of up to 400 thousand tons of ash and slag from coal-fired electric power plants. ANT-Inform LLC presented its innovative heat power engineering solutions, GK Electroshield - TM Samara unveiled native electrotechnical equipment with operation range of 0.4-220 kV, Taiko Electronics RUS showcased high-voltage cable fittings.

A joint exhibition area of the Russian export centre has brought together companies working in design and manufacturing of automation solutions for the power industry, energy control systems engineering, the maintenance of power generating equipment, the development and manufacture of control and diagnostics devices for high-voltage circuit breakers and transformers. Innovative products of domestic producers were displayed by ENSONS, Quadro Electric, TS Battery, SNE, Science and Technology Enterprise TKA, Premier and Rakurs-Engineering.

Foreign best practices were unveiled by Fortum (Finland), Taiko (United States), Siba (Germany), EAE (Turkey), Giovenzana (Netherlands), ChechTrade (Czech Republic), Connotec (China), Elektrobudowa, Euro-Locks (Poland) Plant of electrical apparatus and equipments Ganz (Hungary), Shiv-Om Brass Industries (India), BERN, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after Kozlov, Technoshans (Belarus), Camont (Kazakhstan).

The International Competition of scientific, research and technology, and innovative solutions designed to develop fuel and energy and extractive industries awarded the laureate diplomas to Gazprom Enegoholding, TGK-1 PJSC, MOEK PJSC, Rosseti PJSC, FGC UES, Tiumenenergo, Kubanenergo PJSC.  The competition pooled together 188 projects by 79 enterprises of the oil and gas, coal and peat inductries, electric energy, renewable energy, pipe-line transmission, atomic energy and mining.

The delegates of the RIEF took part in technical trips to the largest modern power facilities in St. Petersburg: industrial sites Nevsky Zavod and ELEKTROPULT Plant, Power Station No. 1 of the Central Heat Station.
