Woods fire raging in Georgia again

Woods fire raging in Georgia again

At the request of the Government of Georgia and by order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev a fire helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with a crew of 10 people on board has been sent to Georgia, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.

It bears reminding that the fire, which broke out yesterday near the Abastumani resort, has already spread to a total area of more than 5 hectares. Firefighters, fire-fighting equipment and one 1 helicopter have been attracted to extinguish the fire. The gusty wind makes it difficult to suppress the fire.

It should be noted that on August 20 the fire broke out in the Borjomi-Kharagauli forest in Georgia, where 400 firefighters, 100 foresters and 500 employees of the Special Assignments Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs were fighting with fire.

By order of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev a special rescue group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan equipped with rescue fire-fighting equipment was sent to Georgia on August 22 with the aim of providing assistance.
