Ministry of Transport, Communications and high Technology is carrying out an active work to increase export potential of the country in the field of information-communication technologies, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmir Velizade stated on Wednesday within the framework of the 4th Caspian Energy Forum, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports.
To date, cellular communication covers 100% of the population. 78% of the population has been provided with internet access. Of this total, 72% falls to the share of the broadband internet, Elmir Velizade continued.
He reminded that Azerbaijan is an initiator of the project of construction of the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) which implies construction of the subwater segment of TASIM to be laid along the Caspian Sea bed towards Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
According to him, stimulation packages have been worked out for export-oriented enterprises. A working group on expansion of ICT use in business will be established. “There are errands to limit import of production temporally, which will let our companies to unleash their potential”, he highlighted.
Elmir Velizade also noted that there are already first residents of high technologies park: “It means that Made in Azerbaijan brands will enter the market”.
