“The economic reforms have been continued in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev despite the devaluation of the national currency, the fall in oil prices and the global economic crisis”, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev said on Wednesday at the 4th International Caspian Energy Forum, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports.
According to him, the decrees and orders signed by the President of Azerbaijan to improve the activities of the customs bodies and increase transparency in the customs sphere have contributed to the development of the non-oil sector.
Aydin Aliyev stressed that in the first quarter of this year the SCC transferred 571 million manats to the state budget, up 154 million manats vs. the indicator for the same period of the last year. In 2016, 2 billion 292 million manats were transferred to the state budget (the target figure was 1 billion 810 million manats).
According to Aydin Aliyev, the SCC has switched to a 100% use of electronic declarations. In addition, Aydin Aliyev continued, “green corridors” have been put in place within the system of the State Customs Committee and 10 organizations already use them.
The Chairman of the State Customs Committee told about the beginning of use of the Tax Free system at border points and airports, so that tourists can freely return VAT from purchases made in Azerbaijan.
He also recalled that Azerbaijan had improved its positions in the World Bank rating - Doing Business. According to the report, Azerbaijan rose to 65th place in the general rating (3 steps) and 83rd place in the “international trade” rating (11 steps).
