Azerbaijan and Czechia expanding energy cooperation

Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev and member of the supervisory board of the Czech electricity supply company Jiri Maceska discussed issues of energy cooperation in Baku on September 17, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.

Emphasizing that the goods turnover between Azerbaijan and Czechia is growing every year and has totaled $308.52mln within the first half year alone, Natig Aliyev noted the share of Azerbaijani oil in the energy balance of Czechia totals 30%.

Minister emphasized that the memorandum of mutual understanding about cooperation in the energy sphere is ready for signing between the energy departments of the two states.

Speaking about the supply of energy resources to the population, the minister stressed the importance of provision of energy efficiency in the residential sector and large power-intensive industrial enterprises. During the meeting the parties stressed the importance of exchanging experience with Czechia and developing cooperating in this sphere. Jiri Maceska expressed interest in exchanging experience in electricity transmission. Natig Aliyev emphasized that it would be interesting to apply the experience of Czechia, taking into account that Azerbaijan is nowadays exporting electricity in the directions of Georgia, Russia and Iran.
