President of Turkmenistan inaugurates a new power plant in Derweze District

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov paid a working visit to AhalProvince on September 12 to attend the solemn ceremony of opening a new high-capacity gas turbine power plant in Derweze District, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to TDH.

The power plant with the total capacity of 504.4 MW was built by Turkish company Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. The work on creation of the engineering and technical infrastructure involved hundreds of experts, engineers, electricians, builders, utility providers. Kilometres of power cables, communication lines, water and sewer networks are put into engineering galleries. The erected facilities are capable to meet the needs of inhabitants of the province and Ashgabat, taking into account the prospects of electricity export.

The new power plant located on an area of 32 hectares is a complex of modern technological facilities. The head ones among them are the four high-capacity gas turbines GE 9E manufactured by the famous producer General Electric (USA). Their capacity is nearly 126.1 MW each. The modern facilities will enable to produce 12 million kWh of electricity to be supplied via the 110 and 220 kV power transmission lines to the substations to meet electricity needs of consumers across the province and in the capital.
