Agreement on offshore facilities of Akkuyu NPP signed in Ankara

The agreement on onshore hydrotechnical facilities of Akkuyu NPP has been signed in Ankara, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of Rosatom.

The singing procedure took more than an hour. The total amount of the contract in two languages (Russian/Turkish) comprised about 300 pages.

Construction of offshore hydrotechnical facilities represents one of the first major steps of the Akkuyu NPP project. Under the intergovernmental agreement, at this stage the principle of localization of construction services is fully implemented in Turley. One of the main conditions for the bidders was the experience in construction of large hydrotechnical facilities on the coast of the Republic of Turkey. According to the results of the tender, out of 9 bidders Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. offered the most appropriate conditions for the technical specifications. The tender was held in accordance with the Turkish law.

During implementation of the Akkuyu NPP project the Turkish contractors will be able to perform up to 90% of constriction work, about 50% of installation work and manufacture up to 40% of the NPP's equipment. Overall, the involvement of the Turkish companies in the project may reach 35-40%, which is equivalent to the amount of orders worth $6.8 billion.
