Ilham Aliyev holds meetings on margins of the VII Global Baku Forum

During the ongoing VII Global Baku Forum hosted under the motto “A New Foreign Policy” President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a number of meetings with the officials participating in the forum, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On the sidelines of the forum President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Albania Ilir Meta. The sides exchanged views on expanding mutual trade, exploring the export and import opportunities, establishing cooperation between the business structures and a number of other issues.

Pointing to the TAP project, the head of state underlined that the construction is successfully underway and is in its final stage. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the project also unites the two countries and their peoples. The President noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Albania.

Albanian President Ilir Meta hailed the importance of the 7th Global Baku Forum, underlining the event’s contribution to international cooperation. He expressed his country’s keenness to expand relations with Azerbaijan in various fields, particularly in tourism, as well as Azerbaijan’s creating domestic gasification system in Albania.

Also, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic. During the meeting the head of state noted that political relations between the two countries are rapidly developing.

In his turn, Sefik Dzaferovic hailed the high level of political relations between the two friendly countries, saying they are expanding on the basis of mutual interest. He praised the bilateral cooperation as well as Azerbaijan`s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and humanitarian projects implemented by Azerbaijan in his country.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Moldova Igor Dodon.

During the meeting the sides had a broad exchange of views on the development of the bilateral ties in a variety of fields. They emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission in developing economic and trade relations between the two countries.

On the margins of the forum President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov.

President Ilham Aliyev said that Bulgaria and Azerbaijan had always supported each other. The head of state noted that Bulgaria is involved in the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and contributes to the common work. Saying that Azerbaijan and Bulgaria enjoy ample potential in the economic sphere, the head of state lauded Bulgaria`s support for Azerbaijan’s relationship with the European Union.

Highlighting friendly ties between the two countries, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stressed the importance of the 7th Global Baku Forum aimed at ensuring global peace and understanding, and expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani President for the excellent organization of the event.

Overall relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria were praised. SOCAR's activity in Bulgaria was highlighted at the meeting.

Also, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Vice Prime Minister of Romania Ana Birchall.

Ana Birchall noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania.

Ilham Aliyev pointed out that there are big opportunities for further developing bilateral relations between the two countries, in particular promoting economic and trade cooperation.

The sides also noted that the development of the transport sector was one of the key issues on the agenda of a recent meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Turkmenistan. The head of state touched upon Romania`s involvement in the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council.
