Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Caspian countries to be held early in December

The meeting of the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Caspian countries will be held in Moscow on December 4-5, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russia.

In the course of this meeting it is planned to agree upon the main articles of the Convention about the legal status of the Caspian Sea, which will be signed by heads of 5 Caspian States at the Astana summit early in 2018. In particular, the parties have to agree the coordinates of the delimitation of the Caspian Sea bottom between Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Iran, agree upon the possibility of combining export systems of the 5 Caspian states via the Trans-Caspian pipelines, as well as issues of transit of cargoes across the water routes linking the Caspian Sea with the open water mass.

For the first time it was in 2002 when the leaders of the 5 states met in Ashgabat. The second Caspian summit took place in Tehran in 2007, the third one in Baku in 2010, and the fourth one in Astrakhan in 2014.
