New Ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan appointed

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has appointed Mikhail Bocharnikov to the role of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Previously, this post was held by Vladimir Dorokhin.

Mikhail Bocharnikov served as the Ambassador of Russia to Kazakhstan from 2006. He started his diplomatic carrier in 1971. He used to work at the central office of the Ministry and abroad.

In 1990-1992, Mikhail Bocharnikov worked on the position of an Ambassador-Counsellor of the Embassy of the USSR, Russia in the Republic of Zimbabwe. In 1992-1996, he worked as an Ambassador of Russia to the Republic of Zambia. In 1996-1999, he served as a Director of the Department of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In 1999-2003, he held the position of an Ambassador of Russia to Greece. Since December 2003, he has been the Ambassador-at-Large of the Group of Ambassadors-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federaton.
